Friends this is my review of the book This Body of Death by Elizabeth George, which I have read recently. This is the a book that continues the saga of the Inspector Lynley mysteries.
Inspector Lynley remains on compassionate leave after the murder of his wife, and Isabelle Ardery is drafted in as his temporary replacement, with the hope of a permanent placement. A body is discovered in Stoke Newington cemetery, and quickly Isabelle is floundering and needs help. Her best chance is to try and persuade Lynley to come back and help her. The story has several amusing subplots, one concerns the tensions between Isabelle and Barbara Havers and Barbara's choice of clothes. Of course Lynley come back and he and Barbara are teamed up together and follow the murder trail into the New Forest. Ponies and past relationships come into play together with long-ago acts of violence, that have poisoned subsequent generations, which has now come to a head. It is a long detailed book with a complex and intricate plot line but it continues right to the end. The ultimate outcome is not obvious as the story has several twists and turns which makes it a really Autumn good read. This was book 6 week 4 fiction 6 (audio books 1) non fiction 0

This is my review of Elizabeth George's book – With No One as Witness. What a mega tome – over 650 pages of twists and plots. A very different sort of book as the majority of it was about the lives of the three main detectives leading the murder hunt.
This is the continuing saga of Acting Superintendent Lynley and Barbara Havers who is now reinstated. Could be described as a venn diagram of plots and twists all based around a central serial killer (and a serial killer copycat, just for extra complication). This leads to an epidemic of killings, the last of which is a very sad tragedy. Elizabeth manges to bring her characters life and makes one really feel for them as they try and do their job, in very difficult circumstances, whilst bringing humour into the mix as well. I think the scene where Barbara saves a life with a frying pan is brilliant – Also the discussion about parking the Bentley and not wanting to scratch it – Plus all the comments about the tabloid reporter but cant say too much more otherwise would ruin the plot. A good book and an enjoyable read on the whole, though parts were not that pleasant, but if one is talking about a serial killer then the serial killings are not going to be pleasant so it is to be expected. - book 37 week 25 fiction 35 (10 on audio) non fiction 2 _ Over the summer we watched several DVD's of Inspector Lynley detective series. Now this book is one that I have not seen on DVD as it involves his friends – Deborah and Simon, and not the great inspector himself. A seemingly wealth resident of Guernsey is found murdered and a young American woman is charged with her murder. Her brother asks the only people he knows in the UK to help him Deborah and Simon free her. So they go off to Guernsey and solve the mystery. It is a really good mystery as it keeps you guessing right until the very end, who the murderer is. There are lots of very convincing red herrings which take one off to a side track. A really good book as book 15 week 15
